There has been a link between music and medicine for thousands of years. Biblical references and ancient civilization artifacts point to the fact that music can be a powerful influence on our physical health and well being. Among the writings that describe music as a healing medium are Chinese, Greeks, Egyptians, and Romans just to name a few.

With so many people living with pain, and or, not getting their much needed sleep, it's not surprising that music therapy is being used in a wide variety of environments which include medical hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, massage therapy, senior centers, and the list goes on and on.

One theory on the effects of music for pain is that music causes the body to release endorphins to counteract pain. Another is that slow music relaxes a person by slowing their breathing and heartbeat.

In the year 2002, I was in an auto accident that severly damaged my lower back. My muscles had become inflamed and pinched a nerve. Pain pills make me sick so they are of little comfort to me. I found that some of my piano music has the ability to relax my muscles and also distract my thoughts away from the pain. The images created while listening to my piano music took my mind off of my pain, allowing me to relax so the nerve was less pinched. I found that pain is a vicious cycle and to alleviate it, you need to start at square one, which is, muscle relaxation. Once the muscle relaxes, the healing can begin.
As you listen to my music, be aware that you can send signals from the brain to different mussels in your body to cause the mussel to relax. Start with the neck first and work your way down. You will actually get very good at sending signals to certain areas of your body where your pain is most noticed.
Use my music as a distracter. Music as a distracter provides an escape through imaginative thought which is important in relieving stress, anxiety, and fear associated with pain. Try to imagine being in a warm, comfortable meadow with plenty of greenery and the soothing sound of water from a nearby stream.

My "Music Therapy" CD is your's for free with additional purchase of any one or more of my available CD's. The reason that I am giving you this gift is that I am confident that once you listen to my music, you will want to purchase my other Cds as well. 50 cents from each "Music Therapy" CD will be donated to the research of music for pain management.

I hope my music will bring a degree of comfort to all who listen.
Sincerely,
David Anthony
